A little bit about us

We’re Jess, Carl and, as of March 2026, little Olive.

We got married in September 2025, welcomed Olive six months later, and then, because apparently maternity leave wasn’t keeping us busy enough, opened
The Park in August 2026.

Food and coffee have pretty much always been our thing.
Jess has been self-employed since she was 17 and is a baker at heart, while Carl
is a former chef turned coffee roaster who can usually be found obsessing over beans, flavours and the perfect cup of coffee.

We opened Fables Coffee House in Edwinstowe in July 2018, followed
by Major Brew in May 2020, where Carl now roasts more than 20 different single-origin coffees.
Then came The Park — another place for us to do what we love: feed people, make great coffee and hopefully introduce you to a few new favourite
flavours along the way.

We’re big believers that good food doesn’t need messing about with.
Our cakes are made with proper butter, proper cream and free-range eggs from very happy chickens — and yes, we’ve actually been to visit them.
No unnecessary additives or colourings, just really good ingredients and flavours that work together.

The same goes for our people.
Calling your team a “family” is a bit of a cliché, but we have one simple rule:
we wouldn’t employ anyone we wouldn’t happily spend four hours chatting to
at a barbecue. It’s given us a wonderfully mixed bunch of genuinely lovely people, many of whom have been with us for years.

We chose The Park because we loved the location, the community and
what we knew the place could become.

Ultimately, we just really love food. We love making it, talking about it, sharing it and feeding people with it. Quite how neither of us is considerably fatter remains a mystery.

And now we get to bring Olive along for the ride.
